Who’s behind Baby Bird Café
I am Katie Millard – wife, mum and café owner!
I have previously worked for charities and local authorities delivering educational visits for schools, childrens’ events, volunteering opportunities, arranging tours and (my favourite bit of all) devising and running themed craft workshops and other children’s events.
Given my experience, I have wanted to start my own business for years and my husband and I had talked at length about what we could do.
Everything changed in 2013 when our daughter was born. It became clear to me that I wanted to really put families with babies and young children at the heart of my career, and the concept of Baby Bird Café was born!
Setting up as a Community Interest Company is really important to us as it reflects our ethics, values and hopes for the future.
It’s been a long, hard but amazing adventure, and with the invaluable help of UnLtd who helped us with start-up funding to get things going, plus the support of Shropshire RCC, Baby Bird Café registered as a Community Interest Company in March 2014.
We look forward to welcoming you to Baby Bird Café!
